“Steel”

William “Steel” Orland Adams, Jr. went to his eternal rest May 12, 2025, at Ochsner Medical Complex-River Parishes in LaPlace, LA. A loving father, son and brother, Steel as he was better known, was loved by all who knew him. Born just before the new year on December 30, 1983, his warm, welcoming personality and infectious laugh made everyone a friend. A hard worker with a kind spirit, Steel made a lasting impression. His daughter Aubrey was the love of his life. She inspired him in so many ways. He often spoke of his love for his “Lil’ Family.”

Steel was a standout athlete starting early with little league and taking that training to Lutcher High School where he garnered numerous honors in both football and track. He also lettered in basketball. He graduated from Lutcher in 2001. Steel played one year of football at the University of Southern Mississippi before transferring to Southern University in Baton Rouge where he completed his football career and graduated in 2007.

He is survived by his parents William “Big Steel” Orland Adams, Sr. and Merita Gerard Adams, his daughter Aubrey Adams and her mother Ariane Anderson, his sister Nicondra Norwood Lewis and her husband LeVar Lewis, nephew and Godson Gage Lewis, brother William Lloyd Adams, Godmother and aunt Noeida Gerard Ricks, aunts and uncles: Russell,Sr. and Angell Gerard Diggs and Elton, Jr. and Patricia Gerard Oubre and a host of cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents Irby and Stella Mae Marmillion Gerard of Gramercy, LA and Jesse and Arince Murphy Adams of Rayville, LA and his aunt Alice Marie Tillman of Monroe, LA.

Relatives and friends of the family, Priest and Parishioners of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to celebrate Steel’s life at the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am on Saturday, May 24, 2025, at St. Anthony Padua Catholic Church, 234 Angus Drive, Luling, LA 70070.  Visitation 9:00am until time of Funeral Mass.
