November 6, 1934 - January 3, 2024

Walter Evans, Jr. peacefully transitioned on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Veterans Affairs Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana. Son of the late Walter Evans, Sr., and Lillian Paul Evans. The son-in-law of the late Norman Sr. and Victoria P. Vinnett. Husband of Blanche Vinnett Evans. Father of Troy B. Evans, the late Gina Evans Victor, and the late Donelda Evans Lewis. Grandfather of Reagan Evans, Eddie Lewis III, Kennedy Evans, and the late Martine Victor Johnson. Great-grandfather of Khyron J. Victor, Khyree J. Victor, and Ro-Niya Johnson. Brother of the late Earl Evans, Sr. (Onesther), Joseph Evans, Warren Evans, Sr. Edward, Evans, Sr., and the late Ethel Evans Johnson. Father-in-law of Chandra White Evans, Ronald Victor and the late Eddie Lewis, Jr. Brother-in-law of Charles Vinnett, Sr. (Audrey), Ernestine V. Coleman (Freddie, Sr.), Milton Vinnett, Sr. (Sylvia), Pastor Gerald L. Vinnett, Sr. (Janet), Edward Vinnett, Sr. (Sandra), Victor Vinnett, Victoria “Dedra” Dorsey (Randy), Beulah Evans, Patricia Evans, and Genevieve Vinnett, the late Norman Vinnett, Jr., Samuel Vinnett, Sr., Harold “Stick” Johnson, and Dianne Vinnett. One aunt, Luberta Robertson.  Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, God children, cousins, and friends. Eighty-nine (89) years, a native of St. Rose, Louisiana.

Relatives and friends of the family, also Pastors, officers, and members of Mt. Zion B. C., Fifth African B. C., all neighboring churches, employees of the former Eastern Airlines, St. Charles Parish School System, St. Charles Sheriff Department, Linde Inc. and Lane Bryant are invited to attend the funeral services at the Mt. Zion B. C., 100 Second Street St. Rose, Louisiana; Rev Freddie Dixon, Sr., officiating.  Interment at the Jefferson Memorial Gardens St. Rose, Louisiana.

Masonic Ceremony of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Nehemiah Lodge #72 at the above-named church 10:15am to 10:45am. Visitation from 11:00 am until service time 12 noon.
