Obituary of Wallace Adam Bourgeois Sr.
1934 - 2023

Wallace Adam Bourgeois, Sr. was born November 11, 1934, to the late Hesther Anthony and George L. Bourgeois, Sr.
Wallace was baptized in the Catholic faith at St. Peters Church in Reserve, La, and later made his 1st Communion and Confirmation at Our Lady of Grace Church. He will be remembered for his devotion to his church and Our Lady of Grace Parish School. Wallace was a recipient of the St. Louis Medallion and served as an Our Lady of Grace Ministers of Hospitality member until his failing health.
On Saturday, April 1, 1966, Wallace pledged to love, honor, and share his life with Shirley Jacob as the two were united in Holy Matrimony at Our Lady of Grace Historic Church. God made them shepherds of Felicia, Felencia, Wallace Jr, and Felindia.
Wallace was a proud and dedicated soldier. He was known as a Dual Veteran. He served honorably in both the United States Airforce and the United States Navy. His first enlistment was in the US Airforce in 1952. He was honorably discharged upon the completion of his tour. He would then enlist in the Navy. He was a Medical Material Manager in the Air Force and an Electronics Technician in the Navy. Wallace served on ships named USS Lexington and USS Forrestal. He was a decorated soldier. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and USAF Hospital/Occupational Medal. Wallace served over 15 years in the Navy to complete his military career as a fully retired veteran on November 20, 1972.
On August 4, 2023, at the VA Medical Center- Azalea House – New Orleans, La. Wallace heeded the call and boarded the chariot of eternal life. United in death, he was preceded in death by his parents, Hesther Anthony and George L. Bourgeois, Sr., his wife Shirley Jacob Bourgeois, three sisters, Ester Mae Smith, Gloria Dean Staggers, and Barbara Wright, and brothers George L. Bourgeois, Jr. and Walter Bourgeois.
Lasting memories of Wallace will remain in the hearts of one son, Wallace Bourgeois Jr. (Michelle), and three daughters, Felicia B. Charles (Guy Michael Sr.), Felencia Anderson (Ronald), Felindia Bourgeois (David), twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, seven sisters-in-law, Mercedes Bourgeois, Velma Clay, Vanessa J. Noble, Alfreda J. DeVare, Latricia J. Miles, Jackie and Jean Jacob, five, brothers-in-law, Manuel and Carmen Jacob, Clarence Noble, Anthony DeVare and Johnny Miles, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family, Priest and Parishioners of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church and all surrounding Churches are invited to a Funeral Mass at 11:00am on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 772 LA-44, Reserve, LA 70084.
