Victoria (Johnson) Hatcher—affectionately known as Mame or Ms. Vicki—passed away peacefully on June 11th, 2025, at the age of 96.

Born on February 25th, 1929, in Norco, Louisiana, to Arthur Sr. and Beatrice (Simpson) Johnson. Victoria's life was a rich tapestry of love, laughter, and dedication. In the 1950s, she moved north to Chicago, Illinois, where she built a remarkable career as the head chef at Marshall Field’s in Skokie, a position she held with pride and skill for 30 years.

In 1997, she returned to Louisiana to enjoy her well-deserved retirement in the town of Killona. Family and friends will always remember her as the life of the party—full of witty humor, genuine kindness, and heartfelt honesty.

Victoria is lovingly survived by her daughters, Ethel Poole of Chicago, IL and Janice Crenshaw of Hahnville, LA. She also leaves behind cherished grandchildren: Sherri Williams of Chicago, IL, Rosalind Poole of Marietta, GA, Sandra Brantley of Chicago, IL, Charon Hodge of Chicago, IL, and Donovan Perkins Sr. of Gonzales, LA as well as eleven great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Lawrence Hatcher; her parents, Arthur Sr., and Beatrice (Simpson) Johnson; and her brothers, Arthur Johnson Jr., Victor Johnson, and Edward Johnson.

Victoria’s legacy of love and joy will forever live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
