Verne L. Parker
January 20, 1951 - November 17, 2023
Verne L. Parker was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was called to her eternal home on November 17, 2023 at age 72.
She was born to the late Albert Joseph and Beatrice Davis on January 20, 1951 in New Orleans, Louisiana and baptized at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville, LA.
Shortly after graduating from George Washington Carver High School in 1969, Verne married her high school sweetheart, Gerald B. Parker, Sr. Together, they had 2 children: Gerald B. Parker, Jr and Tara Lynn Parker Pierre.
She began her career at Winn-Dixie in Luling, where she became a pillar of the community for 30+ years. After retirement, she began a second career at First American Bank in LaPlace for the next 15+ years. Ms. Verne was loved and respected by her coworkers, patrons, and anyone she encountered.
She was a devout member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. For the past 35 years, her very articulate, yet angelic voice could be heard as she lovingly shared the Word of God, to the church community, as a church lector. Strong in her Catholic faith, she also served as a religious educator, a faithful volunteer at the food pantry, as well as a past member of the pastoral council.
Verne leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Gerald B. Parker, Sr.; her children Gerald B. Parker, Jr., and Tara Parker Pierre; her son-in-law, Ian D. Pierre; her grandsons, Braeden Michael Pierre, and Ethan Jacob Pierre. She also leaves behind her caring sister, Shirley Warren, her niece/Goddaughter, Jessica Warren Livas, as well as her God children, Gaynell Davis, and Dwyer Muhammed. She also leaves her great nieces, Amiri Mason, Kylei Mason, Bailei Livas, Kinslei Livas and Brylei Livas and a host of other relatives and friends.
