A Godly life ended Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at Ochsner Westbank Hospital. Jesus stretched out His arms and said, “Come with me my child, we are going to place where there is no more tears, no more dying, no more pain and no more sickness. A place in My Father’s house, where there is joy---unspeakable joy.” Vanessa obeyed the call.


Vanessa Joseph Winchester was born on February 27, 1963, to the late Octavia Hogan Joseph and Junius Winchester in St. James, Louisiana. She attended school in St. John the Baptist Parish. She achieved her accreditation of studies from The University of New Orleans and River Parish Technical School in Reserve, where she received her diploma in Drafting and Engineering.  Vanessa’s employment included time at Avondale Shipyard and Northrop Grumman Corporation. She later on continued her employment with All Star Electric.


Vanessa was a very talented/knowledgeable and successful engineer.  


Vanessa dearly loved her only child, Alexandra Winchester. She was a loving sister to the late Kim Joseph and Scheena Walker (Isaac Jr.) Collins and Wade (Danna) Joseph Sr. She leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter, Alexandra Winchester; her loving and devoted brother Wade Joseph Sr.; her sister-in-law Danna Joseph; her aunts Ethel Fisher and Rose Miller; her uncle Wilbert[DJ1] [DJ2]  (Maria) Joseph; her God child Isaac Collins III, her devoted friend Virginia Levane and her devoted cousin Victoria Mayfield, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.


She was  proceeded in death by her parents Octavia Hogan Joseph and Junius Winchester, devoted stepfather Lawerence Shorty Sr., her brother Kim Joseph and her Sister Scheena Walker Collins.


Vanessa was always that person, ready and willing to lend a helping hand to everyone in need. She was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church. Her memory will forever be cherished by all who knew her and came in contact with her.


Relatives and friends of the family are invited to a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 11:00am on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at the Patrick H. Sanders Funeral Home, 605 Main Street, Laplace, LA 70068.  Interment will be private.  Final Arrangements entrusted to Patrick H.
