Troy Major Obituary

Troy Lee Major

1966 – 2026

38 For I am persuaded, that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor thing to come.

39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 8:38-39

Troy Lee Major departed this life on Thursday, January 29, 2026. Troy was born on February 17, 1966, to the union of Lawrence Major, Sr., and the late Verna Ann Young Major.

He was baptized at a young age at Antioch Baptist Church of Des Allemands, Louisiana by the late Rev. Ernest Williams. Troy lived a life grounded in faith in God, trusting his guidance through every season. Troy joined and became a part of the Historic Bell Baptist Church family in 2023 under the leadership of Rev. Rodney Johnson, Sr. While he was not an active member for the last two years due to health issues, he considered the Historic Bell Baptist Church his Church home.

Troy leaves a lasting impact on all who knew him. A beloved son and brother to Lawrence Major, Jr., the late Gregory Major, the late Terrance L. “Terry” Major, Bridget M. Major and Bryce L. Major, Sr. (Lyn). Troy was known for his outgoing spirit, boundless kindness, and generous heart. His friendship stretched from childhood through every stage of his life, a testament to the love and loyalty he gave freely to those around him.

Troy began his career as a young high school student at Majoria’s Supermarket where Mr. Leroy Nelson took him under his wings and taught him the profession of meat cutting and life. Troy was also the Owner and Operator of his own moving and delivery company. Troy work career ended as it began in the meat department at Zuppardo’s Family Market. He greeted everyone with a friendly smile, took the time to offer advice or personal recommendations, and treated each person as part of his extended family. Many customers came to rely on his expertise and appreciated the care and attention he gave them.

He was preceded in death by his mother Verna Ann Young Major, brother Terrance L. “Terry” Major and Gregory “Greg” Major, maternal grandfather Earl Young, Sr., maternal grandmother Elizabeth Burgens Young, paternal grandfather Ernest Smith, Sr., and paternal grandmother Oliska Burks.

Those left to cherish his precious memories are his devoted father Lawrence Major, Sr., his loving siblings Lawrence Major, Jr., Bridget Major and Bryce Major, Sr. (Lyn).
