Taiya Ashane' Morris

2002 - 2025

Our beloved Taiya Ashane’ Morris peacefully entered eternal rest, surrounded by her loving Mother and Bonus Dad, Darrell Sr., who adored her dearly, on Tuesday, December 23, 2025. Taiya A. Morris was born on May 15, 2002, in Kenner, Louisiana, to Tanya Mott-Curtis and Louis Roderick Morris Sr. 

Taiya was affectionately known as “TeeTee”, “Ta-boo”, and “Earth Angel” to those who loved her. She was loved beyond measure. Taiya’s smile made you know that she felt your presence. Taiya was educated through St. Charles Parish Public Schools and graduated from Hahnville High School in 2020. 

Taiya was the daughter of Tanya and Darrell Curtis Sr. and Louis Roderick Morris Sr. Taiya leaves to cherish her memories; one grandmother, Virginia Curtis; two siblings, Ra’Janae Taiyan Morris and Darrell Curtis Jr.; three aunts, Yoland Mott-Brumfield, D’Ayra and T’Ayra Mott; two uncles, Sidney Mott III and Bryant Brumfield; seven cousins, Breoin and Brielle Brumfield, Ma’Layah Edwards, Sa’Myri Johnson, Sa’Nay and Serenity Mott, Ziyah Hill, and Sidney Mott IV; one niece, Daysha Curtis; two godparents, Carol Austin and Sidney Mott III; and one fur baby, Sassie Curtis. She’s preceded in death by her five grandparents, Sidney and Bernadette Mott Jr., Louis Morris Jr., and Ora-Belle and Charles Bazile Sr. She is survived by a host of other extended family and dear friends.

Taiya’s days were filled with care, routine, and moments of happiness by her direct support professionals throughout her years. Not only was she safe with them, but they showed her comfort and love throughout her daily life. Taiya enjoyed weekend rides and camping at one of her favorite locations, Lake's End in Morgan City, LA. She was our trail ride “Diva.” She utilized many services throughout her life, which included physical and occupational therapy at Crane Rehab Center in Jefferson, LA, and was an Equestrian rider at the Greater New Orleans Riding Center in Laplace, LA. Taiya was a world traveler; she visited places like Great Wolf Lodge in Grapevine, TX, Disney World in Orlando, FL, the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Gatlinburg, TN, and Morgan’s Wonderland in San Antonio, TX, which is the world’s first “ultra-accessible” theme park, designed for guests of all ages and abilities with a special focus on those with special needs. Taiya was a passport holder with visits to the Bahamas, Key West, Progresso, Belize, Mahogany Bay, and Cozumel. Her favorite meals were red beans and rice and mashed potatoes with no gravy. 

Taiya Ashane’ Morris was a testament to her resilience and strength. God showed favor upon Taiya for 23 years, as she blessed and enriched our lives in many ways, and others who adored her. Taiya was a precious gift whose life reflected unconditional love, strength, and faith. Though her journey required special care, Taiya taught everyone around her the true meaning of patience and love. She was deeply cherished and surrounded by love every day of her life. While our hearts are broken, we take comfort in knowing that Taiya is now at peace, free from pain, and embraced by angels. Taiya inspired everyone she encountered. Her joy, smile, and laughter made everyone else’s worries wash away. Taiya’s life greatly impacted the career paths of her big sister and two older cousins. Her love will live on forever in our hearts. She was our angel on Earth; now she rests in the arms of our angels in Heaven.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, officers and members of First Baptist Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to the Celebration of Life Services at 11:00am on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at First Baptist Church, 14571 Old Spanish Trail, Paradis, LA 70080. Visitation 9:00am until the time of service at the above-named Church. Interment St. Charles Cemetery and Mausoleum, 1279 Paul Maillard Rd, Luling, LA 70070.
