Taft William Smith

1958 - 2025

Taft William Smith passed away in his home on March 11, 2025. He was 66 years old.

The legacy and memories of Taft will forever be honored and cherished by his children: Kynisha Miner, Tavon and Tiara Walker, Anthoney Veney, Dominique Darensbourg, Jonte (Arial) Smith; his 19 grandchildren, and his great-granddaughter.

Taft is loved and survived by his Russell-Smith siblings: Charlotte, Zina (Maurice), Shirley Kim, Art (Lynette), Consuella, Aleta (Willie), Jamaine, Addie, and Dante; his brother-in-law Anthony Matthews, sister-in law Kathy Russell, and Uncle Robert Crawford. Taft is also survived by an abundance of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and his beloved Leesville community.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of St. Matthew Baptist Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at St. Matthew Baptist Church, 604 E. South Johnson Street, New Sarpy, LA 70078. Bishop Otis Kenner, Sr., Officiating.  Visitation 10:00am until service time at the above-named Church.   Interment Private.  Final Arrangements Entrusted to Patrick H.
