Sylvester Allen Turner
Sylvester Allen Turner this earthly life on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at 4:30am at his home in Luling, Louisiana. On May 16, 1954, Sylvester Allen Turner was born to the late Joseph and AlDonia Davis Turner in New Orleans, Louisiana. He was the fourth child born with a twin Sidney A. Turner.
He was educated in the Public School System of St. Charles Parish, Louisiana, and graduated from Carver High School in Hahnville, Louisiana. Rev. Amos Sumler baptized him at Bell Baptist Church located In Luling, Louisiana in 1964. He rejoined Bell in 2018 and served as A Security Guard for the Church.
Sylvester married Evelyn Sandolph and Hinetha Graves. No children were born to either of these unions. He Loved Kids and Spoiled his Nieces and Nephews calling one of them “BLUE EYES.”
He worked at Avondale Shipyard, St. Charles Parish Hospital, and he was an employed 28 Years with the St. Charles Parish School System at Lakewood Elementary School in Boutte, Louisiana.
Vest, as he was fondly called, will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
His loving siblings are Barbara Turner Manuel (John), Celina Turner MaGee, Janet Turner, and Sidney Turner (Joyce). He had a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends as well as two God children: Jovanna Harris and Sidney Turner Jr.
Sylvester was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and AlDonia Davis Turner and four siblings, Sylvester Turner, Thelma Waithe, Florence, and Morris Turner Sr.
Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of Historic Bell Baptist Church and all neighboring Churches, also employees of St. Charles Parish School Board are all invited to the Celebration of Life Services at 11:00am on Saturday, April 26, 2025, at The Historic Bell Baptist Church, 300 Hackberry Street in Luling, Louisiana. Rev. Rodney L. Johnson, Sr., Pastor-Officiant. Visitation from 9:00am until the time of service at the above-named Church. Interment Historic Bell Baptist Cemetery.
