Ruth Gwendolyn Bowman Bourgeois

Ruth “Gwen” Bourgeois, a lifelong resident of Reserve, Louisiana in the Parish of St. John the Baptist answered the Master’s call and peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, Louisiana; at age 77.

She was the daughter of the late Ruth Johnson James and the late Ernest Bowman. She was raised in a Christian environment by her grandparents, the late Rev. Albert “Poppa” Johnson and Mary Johnson. She was the devoted wife of Adam Bourgeois for 35 years. She was the loving mother of:  Nedra Joseph (Timothy) Snowden and Shannon Joseph; adopted daughter, Fayron Epps.

She was a retiree of Lakeside Hospital of Metairie, Louisiana.

Also cherishing her memories are her stepdaughters:  Monique Bourgeois and Charlene Tuckerson; granddaughters:  Jada Snowden and Jade Frank; a grandson:  Jayce Snowden; great grandchildren:  Destin Thomas, Charm and Kendall Gerard, Sean Spears, and Tatum Young; adopted grandchildren:  Malachi and Shai Ward, Lanai Epps; step granddaughter:  Blair Okpalobi; siblings:  Clara Belle Bowman, Sharon M. (David) Wamsley, Kerry Stewart, Ivory (Doris) Stewart, and JoAnn Edwards Sylve;; sisters-in-law:  Earline Sorapuru and Margery Young; loving and devoted cousins:  Dolores “Cinderella” Collins and  Damon Johnson;  devoted friends:  Mary Miller Joseph, Artimese Epps, Myrtle Lennix, and Dolores Deselle; a Goddaughter:  Kojuvona Telfair Singleton; a Godson, Kalen Collins; a host of  nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of New Pilgrim Baptist and Bethlehem Baptist Church  and all neighboring Churches are invited to a Celebration of Life Services at 11:00am on Saturday, March 15, 2025, at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, 107 Pilgrim Drive, Reserve, LA 70084.
