Romonia Wilson

Romonia Wilson was born January 15th, 1950, in Lake Providence, Louisiana to the union of the late Jack Williams, Sr. and Estellar Williams. The family later relocated to Metairie, Louisiana where they lived and raise six more children.

Romonia was a beautiful soul inside and out. She always had time to listen and pray with people, she was a selfless individual who knew how to brighten anyone’s day with her beautiful smile. She accepted Christ as a child and grew in the knowledge of Father God throughout her earthly life. A member of Thomas United Methodist Church she served faithfully in multiple ministries. In her community “Ms. Romona” as she was affectionately known always had time for the children as well as the elderly. She truly found her calling working as an educator in the Jefferson Parish Public School System for more than 25 years before retiring.

On Monday, January 2, 2023, God called Romonia to her eternal home in Heaven. She passed away surrounded by loved ones at Ochsner Medical Center in Jefferson. Romonia is survived by her two sons, Monroe Wilson, III and Marlon Dwayne Wilson both of Metairie, LA and one bonus son Keith Wilson. Romonia loved her children dearly.

She is survived by four grandchildren: Brandon Wilson, Jayden Wilson, Montae Wilson and Jalani Monae Wilson expected arrival March 8, 2023.

Left to cherish her memory, are her siblings Estella “Jean” Swanson, Blenda (Alvin) Miles and godsister Tammara Cornish. Aunts Clara Bishop and Mimi (Roy) Lindsey, uncles Clarence (Carrie) Fields, and Lugene Blake, and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Jack and Estellar Williams, brothers Jack Williams and John Henry Williams, sisters Annie Mae Dixson, and Alberta “Mickey” Johnson.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers, Members of Thomas United Methodist Church  and all neighboring churches are invited to the funeral service at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at New Generation Fellowship, 1000 Clay Street, Kenner, LA  70065.  Rev. Kaseem Short of Thomas United Methodist Church-Officiating.  Bishop Craig Wilson of New Generation Fellowship-Host Pastor. Visitation 9:00am until time of service.  In accordance with the CDC guideline for COVID-19 masks are suggested for all in attendance.  Interment Providence Cemetery, 8200 Airline Drive, Metairie, LA  70003.   Final Arrangements Entrusted to The Patrick H.
