Romalice Sherman Lewis

May 10, 1943 - September 20, 2024

Romalice Sherman Lewis was called to eternal rest on Saturday, September 20, 2024, age 81.  Sherman was born on May 10, 1943, in New Orleans, LA, to the late Alonia Royal Johnson and Henry Lewis.   Stepson to the late Nolan Johnson, Sr.  Husband to late Waymie Jean Lewis.  Sherman’s siblings included Nolan Johnson, Jr. (Antqualene), Mark Johnson (Season), Sanders Johnson (Jennifer), Yvonne Downs (Joseph), Gertrude Estell, Henry Estell (Zena) Oda Estell, Joyce Estell-Smith (the late S. T.), Hazel Nelson (Cleveland), and Dolores Thompson (Joshua). Brother-in-law to Velma Stewart and Ernestine Franklin. Romalice and Waymie Jean were blessed with five children: Stephen Lewis (Hazel “Andrea”), April Lewis Brown (Lewis “Kia”), Aric Lewis, Melony Lewis Lynch (Kyle), and the late Terrance “Terry” Lewis and survived by hosts of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also survived by a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Romalice was preceded in death by his wife Waymie Jean Lewis, his son Terrance “Terry” Lewis, parents Alonia Johnson and Henry Lewis, Stepfather Nolan Johnson, Sr., mother-in-Law Emma Bentley, sister-in-law Thelma “Toni” Pate and grandson Semaj Lewis.

Relatives and friends of the family, priests and parishioners of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, are invited to attend the Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 13396 River Road, Destrehan, LA  70047.  Visitation 9:30am until time of Mass. Interment with Military Honors rendered at Providence Memorial Park, 8200 Airline Hwy, Metairie, LA 70003.  Final Arrangements Entrusted to  Patrick H.
