Rogers Batiste, affectionately as “Bat and Roger,” passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at the age of 86. He was born on October 23, 1937, to the union of James and Viola Stewart Batiste in New Orleans and he resided Laplace, LA.


Rogers was an Automotive Ambassador by profession, leaving a lasting impact on his field. He had a way with people and always knew how to make them smile. His favorite quote, “The Lord will make a way with people ad always knew how to make them smile. His favorite quote, “The Lord will make a way somehow, reflected his unwavering faith and positive outlook on life.


One of Rogers proudest accomplishments was receiving Christ and being baptized at Second True Love Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA at an early age. He found solace and strength in his faith throughout his life.


On, January 8, 1982, Rogers married the love of his life, Cewillow Simmons. They shared many memorable moments together and built a strong foundation of love and support.


Rogers was a loving father to his children, Greg Lockett of Savannah, GA, Rogers Joseph of Covington, LA, Kip Lewis (stepson) of Baton Rouge, LA, Kandyce Sharett Batiste-Brown of Houston, TX, and the late Kiley Batiste. His grandchildren also held a special place in his heart.


Rogers is survived by his siblings, Morris Batiste and Louise Batiste-Tuircuit as well as his brother and sisters-in-love. Joseph Simmons, (Patricia “Nancy” Harvey). Joann Watson, Ceola Jackson, Dianne Simmons-Romar, and Barbara Dowl. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. All of whom will miss him dearly. He was proceeded in death by Julius Clarence, Ernest Joseph and Raymond Batiste, his aunt Leola Johnson, and a host of other family members.


Known for his outspoken nature, Rogers never hesitated to share a smart comment or make those around him laugh. He had a magnetic personality and a joyful spirit that touched the lives of many. Rogers will be remembered for his love of family, his strong faith, and his unwavering love for his grandbabies. May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory be a source of comfort and inspiration to all those who knew and loved him.
