Roberta Joan Perilloux Bailey
Roberta Perilloux Bailey peacefully passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the age of 77, while her family lovingly prayed the rosary over her. Born on August 1, 1945 in New Orleans, LA, she was a lifelong resident of Laplace.
Beloved wife of the late Harold J. Bailey for 57 years. Devoted mother of Shellie B. Hymel (John) and Jamey Bailey (Randie). Loving grandmother of Chelsey H. Ricks (Patrick), Austin Hymel, and Ashlyn H. Forest (Christopher). Adoring great-grandmother of Eli Ricks, Camille Ricks, and Christopher Forest Jr. She is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Marie Helen Perilloux, and her siblings, Gwendolyn Perilloux, Joanne P. Scroggs and Joseph Perilloux. Roberta will be forever remembered as an incredibly loving and selfless individual to numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends. Roberta was hired in 1963 by Sister Mary Edmund to serve as the first secretary of St. Joan of Arc Catholic School, where she worked for 48 years. She dedicated her life to her work by helping families daily and caring for countless children. She knew every student by name, including their family members, and made everyone feel welcomed at St. Joan of Arc. Once retired, she spent many hours volunteering at the St. Joan of Arc Thrift Shop. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and reading in her spare time. She fiercely loved her family and found the greatest joy in watching her great-grandchildren grow and play with one another. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation and funeral mass on Friday, August 4, 2023 at St. Joan of Arc Church, 529 W. 5th Street, Laplace, LA. Visitation will be 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, with a funeral service following at 12:00 pm. Interment will be in St. John Memorial Gardens, 2205 W. Airline Hwy, Laplace, LA.
