Reverend Dr. Gary Bolden, Sr.

1951- 2024

Reverand Dr. Gary Bolden, Sr. entered eternal rest on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at the age of 72. He was a native of Des Allemands, LA and a resident of Destrehan, LA.  Reverend Bolden was the Pastor of St. John Missionary Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, LA since 1991. He was also a business owner and former Chaplain and Religious Coordinator for St. Charles Parish Sheriffs Department. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Nicholls State University and a Doctorate of Theology from Christian Bible College.

He is survived by his six children, Kirk Friloux, Keeva Nichols (Roger, Sr.), Kema Matthews (Jeff, Sr.), Aaron Friloux (Kimberly), Keri Odjegba (Solomon) and Gary Bolden, Jr., his nine   grandchildren Jazmyne and Jeffery Matthews Jr., Tyler McIntosh, Andrea, Alex, Paris and Paige Friloux, Roger Nichols Jr., and Onome Odjegba. Two Great Grand Children Andre Conners and Emerie McIntosh. His bonus children Brandi Burl (Graylin, Jr.) and Brandon Broussard (Qiana). Also cherishing his memory are his siblings: three brothers, Gerald, Rev. Mitchell, Jr.
(Bernadette), and Darryl (Mary) Bolden and two sisters Jacqueline (Lloyd) Burrell and Carolyn Bolden. His two godchildren Sloane Turk and Lauren Laurent. His second wife of over 20 years, Denise Bolden, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and beloved friends.

Rev. Bolden was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Mitchell Bolden, Sr., one brother, Barry Bolden, his first wife, Augustine Bolden, third wife, Angela Bolden and grandson Bryan Jones.

Relatives and friends of the family, Second  District Missionary Baptist Association, Pastors and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the visitation on Friday, July 12th, 2024 at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, 287 Daffodil Street, Mt. Airy, LA 70076, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and the Celebration of Life services to be held at 10:00am, on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at New Wine Christian Fellowship, 1929 W Airline Hwy, Laplace, LA 70068. Rev. Dr. Mitchell Bolden, Jr.-Officiant, Rev. Neil Bernard, Host Pastor. There is also a visitation on Saturday, July 13, 2024 at 8:00am until the time of Celebration of Life Service at New Wine Christian Fellowship.
