Peggy Ann Williams Obituary

Peggy Ann Young Williams

Peggy Ann Y. Williams peacefully transitioned from her earthly life on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, age 71.

Peggy was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the late Clarence and Wilhelmina Young. She was a worshipping parishioner at St. Leo the Great and St. Jude Church of New Orleans Louisiana. She was married to the late Ronnie Williams, and to that union, one amazing son Derrick Anthony Williams Sr. was born. He was the love of her life and the joy of her heart.

Her sharp mind and witty personality found her employed as the Vice President of O’Keefe Insurance Agency. In her later years, she worked as a business manager in the Orleans Parish School System and later retired.

Peggy was a caring, supporting, and loving mother, grandmother, sister, friend and relative. She truly loved her family and strived to be a shining example for them by walking upright with faith, dignity and grace throughout her life. Her motto was “If you couldn’t say anything positive about her son or her grandchildren, she did not want to hear it.”

Her family considered her to be a world traveler and a few of those places included Paris, Canada, London, and Greece. She was an avid lover of Jazz Fest and was very passionate about the New Orleans Saints. Her love for the Saints was legendary.

She leaves to mourn her loving and devoted son Derrick, three grandchildren, (Derrick Jr, Derren, Laila) her siblings, Patrick (Nadine), Paulette, Perry (Nichelle), Connie, and Melissa (Missy), four godchildren (Ariane, Perry Jr., Burnell and Haylee) one bonus daughter (Monique Carter) and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Wilhelmina Young, one brother Phillip Young, and one grandson Daniel Williams.

Relatives and friends of the family, Priest and Parishioners of St. Leo the Great Catholic Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to attend a Funeral Mass at 10:00am on Friday, June 20, 2025, at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 2916 Paris Avenue, New Orleans, LA 70119.
