Paul Sonnier, III
"Lil Paul"
1981 - 2026
Paul Sonnier, III entered eternal rest peacefully on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, leaving a profound void in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. A Native & Lifelong Resident of Algiers, LA.
Paul Sonnier, III, affectionately known as “Lil Paul,” was born on April 3, 1981, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to the loving union of Lynette Robinson and Paul Sonnier, Jr. From an early age, family and culture surrounded him, and the rich spirit of New Orleans that helped shape the man he became.
He received his formal education at St. Augustine High School and later continued his studies at Southern University in Baton Rouge and Southern University at New Orleans.
Lil Paul accepted Christ and faithfully worshiped as a member of Victory Christian Center International, formerly New Home Family Worship Center of Algiers, under the leadership of Bishop L. John Phoenix, Sr. His faith served as a steady anchor through the changing seasons of life.
Paul was a hardworking and dedicated provider who took pride in his craft. Texas Roadhouse was his last place of employment. He worked as a Hot Prep/Sauté Cook until his health declined. Before that, he worked at Rack’s Fish House and Oyster Bar in Delray Beach, Florida, where he proudly shared the art of preparing authentic New Orleans-style gumbo with coworkers and customers alike. Whether in the kitchen or among loved ones, Paul gave of himself through service.
Beyond his work, Paul enjoyed the simplicity of life that many take for granted. He loved spending time with family, watching television, and listening to music. Those moments brought him joy, and his mere presence brought comfort and laughter to others.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Hilda Lamb and Paul Sonnier, Sr., Duetta Ankum and Emmett Robinson, Sr.; by his aunts, Pauline Sonnier and Dorothy (the late Richard) Knight, Sr.; his uncles, Curtis (the late Cynthia) Robinson and Allen Sonnier, Sr.; and his godfathers, Clarence Perkins and Ulric Bellaire, Sr.
He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted parents, Lynette Robinson Sonnier and Paul Sonnier, Jr.; his sister, Lasheeda (Charles) Ballet; his brothers, Brandon (Shavonda) Sonnier, Devin Sonnier, and Quentin Alexander; his nephews, RaSheed and RaShon Smith, RaShad Brown, and David McMillon III; his nieces, Char’Less Ballet and Zi’Laya Sonnier; his aunts, Faye Robinson, Jennifer (James, Jr) Singleton, Linda (Elliott) White, Sr., Patricia Sonnier, and Apostle Laurie Walker Sonnier; his uncles, Emmett Robinson, Jr., Lawrence (Vanessa) Sonnier, Sr., and Benedict Sonnier, Sr.; godmothers, Rachel Casimier and Charlene Levy-Sanders; and a host of great-nieces, great-nephews, other relatives, and dear friends.
Paul’s earthly journey has ended, but his presence was a blessing to all who knew him. His memory will forever be cherished and remain in the hearts of those who loved him dearly.
