Patricia Marie Dinvaut Gautier

1938 - 2025

Patricia Marie Dinvaut Gautier, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, and friend, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025, at East Jefferson General Hospital at the age of 87. A native of Edgard, LA, and a longtime resident of Hahnville, LA, she was the firstborn child of the late Rupert Dinvaut Sr. and Willie Mae Dinvaut. She is survived by her loving siblings Rupert Dinvaut Jr. (Janice), Sheila Floyd, Eurydice Neville (Roland Jr.), and Barry Dinvaut Sr. (Lorraine).

Patricia was the devoted mother of Kenneth Gautier, Karla Gautier, Stanford Gautier, Erica Gautier, the late Stephen Gautier (late Jernell), and Jeanise Gautier. She cherished her role as a grandmother to Jai’Brian Gautier, Leila Gautier, and Joshua Walker, and as a great-grandmother to Chase Banks.

She attended Xavier Preparatory School and later graduated from Xavier University of Louisiana, where she laid the foundation for her lifelong passion for education. Patricia dedicated her career to teaching in the St. John the Baptist Parish School System, primarily at East St. John High School and later at West St. John High School, where she taught Consumer Science (Home Economics) with a focus on culinary arts. Her students adored her, not just for her teaching, but for the life lessons she instilled in them—skills like cooking and sewing that they carried with them long after they left her classroom. Many of her former students would often express how she had shaped their lives in ways they never forgot.

More than a teacher, Patricia was a nurturer, a guide, and a woman of deep faith. Her Catholic faith was the cornerstone of her life. A dedicated member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Hahnville, LA, she also found joy in attending mass at various local churches and in the New Orleans area. She was actively involved with the Oblate Associates of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church & International Shrine of St. Jude, particularly in serving the homeless and contributing to the St. Joseph Altar, a tradition that was dear to her heart.

Patricia had a special way with people. Strangers didn’t stay strangers for long in her presence – she had an incredible gift for connection. Whether at the grocery store, a church event, or simply out and about, people were naturally drawn to her warmth and sincerity. She met others where they were, always with empathy and a genuine interest in their lives.

She believed in the power of kindness, integrity, and faith in God—lessons she lovingly passed down to her children. She often reminded them, “Drink water and pray,” and, in her signature playful wisdom, “Don’t take any wooden nickels.”

Her generosity knew no bounds, especially during the holidays, when her famous rum cake became a beloved tradition among family, neighbors, and friends. She found joy in cooking and sharing meals, believing that food was a love language of its own.

Gardening was another of her passions, and she eagerly anticipated each spring, looking forward to selecting her seeds and planning her garden.

She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and compassion—a life well-lived and well-loved. Though she is no longer here in body, her presence, wisdom, and warmth will forever remain with those who knew her .

Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Our Lady of Guadalupe Church & International Shrine of St. de, St. John the Baptist Parish School System Employees and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2349 LA-18, Edgard, LA 70049 on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 10:00 am. Father Robustiano Morgia, Officiant. Visitation will begin at 8:00 am. Recitation of the Rosary at 9:00 am.
