Oscar James Lawrence, Sr.

1954-2026

Oscar “Sugarboy” James Lawrence, Sr entered eternal rest on Tuesday January 27, 2026, at the age of 71 at Ochsner Hospital.

Oscar was born on February 24, 1954, in Reserve, Louisiana to the late Rev. Oscar and Theresa Lawrence.

He was baptized at St. Peters Missionary Baptist Church by the late Dr. D.D. Livingston in Los Angeles, California and later joined Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church.

Oscar was preceded in death by his devoted wife Cynthia Henry Lawrence, two sons; Oscar James, Jr. and Omar Lawrence, one brother; David Alfred Landix, two sisters; Erna Mae and Verlena Lawrence, and two sisters-in-law; Yvonne Landix and the former Joanne Landix.

Oscar leaves to cherish his memories his brother;  Ezekiel Landix (Robin), one grandson; Omar Lawrence Jr. one daughter in law; Kelly Lawrence, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Final preparations:
There will be a visitation Friday, February 6, 2026, 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Patrick H. Sanders Funeral Home,  605 Main Street, LaPlace, LA, 70068- 985-359-1919 and on Saturday, February 7, 2026, 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church
Family and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at Bethlehem Missionary Baptist Church, 146 East 20th Street, Reserve, LA  70084, Rev.  Dr. Forell Bering, Sr. Pastor. Private Burial to follow. Final Arrangements entrusted to Patrick H.
