Nathaniel “Spanky” Wheeler, Jr. was born February 3, 1980, to his parents Denise Wheeler Dyer and Nathaniel Williams in New Orleans, LA. At an early God also blessed him with John Dyer, another loving father. On July 30, 2023, Nathaniel Wheeler, Jr. was called home at the age of 43. The world has lost a great son, husband, brother, father, and leader.
Nathaniel Wheeler, Jr. attended school over the years in the Orleans Parish School System and finished at Abramson High School. On November 19, 2016, Nathaniel married his longtime friend and loving wife Ciji Thibodaux-Wheeler in Houston, TX. Nathaniel has always surrounded himself with family and friends. He always lived life to the fullest. He was employed as a truck driver for Neauxla Trucking and Logistics, LLC. Nathaniel loved football and all things sports and was a die-hard Saints fan. Nathaniel had an infectious personality with a winning smile bringing joy and happiness to everyone he touched.
Nathaniel will forever live in the hearts of his loving parents, his wife, his children Dorian Harris, Na’Jhe Williams, Ny’Jaree White, Na’Tyri Johnson, Marvel Tate, Tiana Carter, and Taylah Williams. His siblings Jondi Dyer, Jenise Muse, Sankofa (Stacey) West, Natalie (Eddie) Jackson, Keith, Brandon and Bridget Price. His brothers and sister-in-law Eugene and Gina Thibodaux and Corey Franklin. His father and mother-in-law Eugene and Paula Thibodaux. Also left to cherish his memories are a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends. Nathaniel is preceded in death by his grandparents Willie James and Lucille Wheeler; Jimmy and Martha Williams; and John Calvin Dyer Jr. His aunts Shirley James, Selissa Wheeler, June Marie Williams and his uncle’s Willie and Ellis Roy Wheeler.
Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of Cypress Grove Baptist Church, Asbury United Methodist Church, the employees of LifeGift Organ Donation Center and Neauxla Trucking and Logistics, LLC. are invited to the Celebration of Life at 11:00 am on Friday, August 11, 2023 at Cypress Grove Baptist Church, 901 31st Street, Kenner, LA 70065.
