Mildred (Mil) Smith Blount was born August 31, 1951, in New Orleans Louisiana, to the late James Smith, Jr and Lillie Mae Brown Smith. Mildred made her transition from her earthly home on Monday, September 21, 2021. Mildred accepted Christ as her personal savior at the age of 13 and was baptized by the late Rev. Dell Parker at Greater Good Hope Baptist Church.
Mildred grew up in Norco Louisiana. Mildred was educated by the St. Charles Parish School system. She was employed by East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie La, where she retired with a 20-year tenure. Mildred was married to the late James Edward Blount in 1968 to this union 4 children were born. DeAngelo, Damone, Derrell, Deshawn Blount. Mildred was a very quiet person in her own way but once she got to you, she had plenty of jokes to tell just like her father James “Shook” Smith.
She leaves to cherish her memories her four children DeAngelo, Damone (Tanya), Derrell (Kulicia) and DeShawn (Oreionda) Blount. Her sister Sandra (Larry) Campbell. Danielle (Dannie) Davin (Alysia) Campbell, Otis, and Deron (Abbey) Smith, and Dennis (Carolyn), Nathaniel and Murphy Wheeler, McArthur (Lorraine)Webster, Ezell Blues, James (Cheryl) Brewer, Legertha Wheeler Bell, Joyce Brewer. Three sister-in -laws Emily (Huey)Narcisse, Minnie Green, and Bernice Parker. Fourteen grandchildren: Dijonae, DeAngela, Domonique, Daysha, Damone (BowBow), Deantre, Damyre, Donell, Darrius, Dorian, Darian, D’Shyne, DeShawn (DJ) Jr., and Dontaz Blount and 2 Great grand kids. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.She was proceeded in death by her parents Lillie Mae and James Smith Jr., Husband James Edward Blount, Two sisters Yvonne Smith Gaudet and Cozell Blue Mc Coil, and Three brothers Jimmie and Ronald Smith, Ronald (Nine)Wheeler. A host of aunts and uncles. In accordance with the CDC guidelines for COVID-19 all in attendance must wear a mask. Final Arrangements entrusted Patrick H.
