Michelle Sweeney Obituary

Michelle L. Stonecipher Sweeney

1968-2024

Michelle L. Stonecipher Sweeney departed from this life unexpectedly on the morning of Friday, January 19, 2024, at the age of 55 years old. Michelle was more than a dedicated mother, daughter, and friend; she was a beacon of warmth and reliability in her community. Michelle’s untimely passing has cast a somber shadow over both the professional and personal realms of those fortunate enough to have crossed paths with her.

Michelle was born in LaGrange, Georgia. She settled down and lived most of her life in LaPlace, Louisiana. Michelle graduated from Phillips Junior College in 1991 with an associate degree in paralegal studies. Michelle was then awarded a certificate from Delgado Community College in 1998 for the Louisiana Notary Public Course and went on to pass the Louisiana Notarial Examination later that year. Michelle received her notarial commission for the Parish of St. John the Baptist in 1999.

Known for her expertise in notary services and loan signings, Michelle had built a reputation as a meticulous and trustworthy individual. Colleagues and clients alike valued her unwavering commitment to excellence and her ability to navigate the complexities of legal documentation with finesse. Beyond her professional endeavors, Michelle was a beloved figure in LaPlace, known for her generosity and willingness to go the extra mile for others.

Regardless of Michelle’s success in her career, her greatest joy and accomplishment was raising her two children, Mandi Lee Sweeney, and John M. Sweeney, IV. First and foremost, Michelle was a giver. She consistently put the needs of her children above her own and did so with pride and happiness. Michelle enjoyed attending pageantry and festival events with her daughter, and sporting events with her son. Michelle even became a certified baseball coach for her son’s travel ball team. Her children always felt supported and encouraged to pursue any dream they had, knowing she was there to do whatever she could to make their dreams come true.

Michelle is survived by her loving partner Billy Moody, her mother Minda Stonecipher, her brother Mark Stonecipher, her daughter Mandi Lee Sweeney, and her son John M. Sweeney, IV. Michelle was predeceased by her father Robert T. Stonecipher.

She will be remembered for all the heart she shared with her friends, family, and her community. She loved each of them- and if you knew her, you knew it. She will be missed dearly.
