Michele Aubert Lewis Obituary

Michele Aubert Lewis
April 11, 1964 – June 11, 2026
Affectionately known as “Tapuny” or “Meche”

“The memory of the righteous is a blessing.” — Proverbs 10:7

God reached down and picked the most pristine, beautiful flower.
With a heart of gold, she was love—kind, positive in spirit, and a friend to all. She never met a stranger and would feed anyone in need. A dainty pearl, she was truly the salt of the earth. Though our hearts ache at her loss, we take comfort knowing God needed her more.

On Thursday, June 11, 2026, God’s angel visited and gently whispered,
“Michele, my sweet angel, your assignment here on earth is complete. It is now your time to rest.”

Michele Aubert Lewis, lovingly called Tapuny or Meche, was born on April 11, 1964, in Lutcher, Louisiana, to the late Bernadine and Michael Lipps, and Eddie Granderson.

She accepted Christ at an early age at Our Lady of Grace in Reserve, Louisiana, where her faith continued to guide her life.  Michele graduated from East St. John High School class of 1982.  She Later further her education and graduated from Herzing University and Grambling University.

Michele adored her daughters, Aurielle and Sarah, and was a proud grandmother to Kais Lewis and Otis Long Jr. She is also survived by her siblings: Connie (Lavar) Johnson, Anderia (Andy) Cambre, Youlanda (Alton) Henry, Kim and Nicole Granderson, Shirley, Angela, Anika, Michael, and Ray; and her late siblings Patrick and Denise Lipps.

She also leaves cherished memories with her aunties Catherine Clayton, Carol Taylor, and Diana Aubert; her godson Dre’Dain Micah Johnson; her devoted sister-in-law Latonia McQuirter and Tonia Lipps; and lifelong friends Chandreka Anderson, Gladys Lumar, Melva Barabin, Steferna Moliere, and Mavis Morton. Her bonus mom, Genolia Granderson, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Michele entered eternal rest at the age of 62. A native of Reserve, and a resident of Laplace Louisiana. She worked at Woman’s Hospital as a Central Sterile Processing Technician. She was well-loved by her coworkers, especially her “work-son” Brandon and her work friends Joanne and Karroll.

Her most cherished moments were simple joys—relaxing while watching Tubi, talking on the phone, and especially packing her bags to visit “the Ponderosa” (Aurielle’s home), which she lovingly called her vacation retreat. She also enjoyed spending time with her family. Cooking was one of Michele’s greatest expressions of love, especially on Sundays. She made sure to say
“Don’t forget to pack you and Demetris some lunch.”

Though she and Aaron divorced, they remained the best of friends until her passing, a testament to her loving spirit.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Bernadine Lipps, and Eddie Granderson Jr.; her maternal grandparents Shirley and Harold Aubert; paternal grandparents Mable Lipps, Eddie Sr. and Thelma Bardell Granderson; siblings Denise and Patrick Lipps; God parents Ernest Sr and Priscilla Morgan; Best Friend Aubradella Jackson and her aunts and uncles Gary, Timothy, Sherry Ann, Veronica Aubert, and Sharone Goff.
