1955 - 2024
Michael Joseph Picou, aged 68, passed away on Thursday, July 11, 2024, in Covington, Georgia. He was the beloved husband of Cynthia Picou, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.
He was born on November 7, 1955 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Michael was the son of Yvonne and Lester Picou Sr. He attended George W. Carver High School and was employed by the Housing Authority of New Orleans. Later, he moved to Atlanta, Georgia, where he worked for Park Springs and retired as a floor technician. Following his retirement, he founded his own dog training business, JPK9. He was a revered dog trainer, whose dedication and passion for canine training spanned over 50 years.
Michael passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of compassion. Expertise, and countless lives enriched by his work. He is survived by his wife Cynthia Ennis Picou, Three daughters Latoya McNeil (Jason), Jenee’ King (LaCoye), Latia Owens (James). Seven grandchildren, Jaelynn, Jeremy, Emori, Elyce, Kendell, Khaiden, Jayceon. Four sisters, Rosilyn, Phyllis, Beverly, Marilyn (Steve). One Brother, Alton. Five sisters-in-law, Daphanie, Dinah, Valerie, Melissa, and Judy. Three brothers-in-law Roderick, Daniel and, Steve; Eight God children. He is also survived by a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Michael was preceded by his parents Lester and Yvonne Picou, sister Elaine, his brothers Dilvert and Lester, Grandson James, Niece Yvonne, Nephew Harmen and companion dog Trixie.
Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of New Sunrise Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to the Funeral service at 11:00am on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the New Sun Rise Baptist Church #1, 1325 LeBoeuf St., Gretna, LA 70053. Pastor Cornell Sisler, Officiating. Interment Restlawn Park Cemetery, 3540 Highway 90, Avondale, LA 70094. Visitation from 9:00am until service time. Final Arrangements Entrusted to Patrick H.
