Mary Evelyn Deggs Clark entered eternal rest on Wednesday May 24, 2023. She was surrounded by her children in her home in Waggaman, Louisiana. Daughter of the late Willie Sr. and Hattie Deggs.  Mary was a native of St. Rose, Louisiana. She was educated in the St. Charles Parish School System, and a Class of 1962 graduate of Bethune High School. She was married to the late Leon Clark Sr., and to this union, three children were born: Deborah, Brian Sr. (Tara), and Antionette Clark. She was the grandmother of Carlos Clark, Brian Clark Jr., Chelsey Zeringue and Alton Houston Jr.

Even though Mary was a quiet spirit, she enjoyed serving the Lord, and sharing loving moments with her family. She was the sister of the late Louis Hampton (the late Ada), the late Willie Deggs Jr., Doris Lee, Elaine Arceneaux, Raymond Deggs (Cynthia), Vallerie Wilright (the late Lawrence), Wesley Deggs, and Imogene Williams (Charlie). Mary was the God mother of Danielle Price (Rickey). She has a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Relatives, friends, Pastors, Officers and Members of the Fifth African Baptist Church, and Mount Zion Baptist Church are invited to attend the Celebration of Life Service on Wednesday May 31, 2023, 10:00 am, at Mount Zion Baptist Church, 100 2nd Street, St. Rose, Louisiana, Rev. Gerald Vinnett Pastor of Fifth Aftrican Baptist Church,Officiating, Rev. Freddie Dixon-Host Pastor. Visitation is from 8:00am until the start of service. Interment: Jefferson Memorial Gardens, 11316 River Road, St. Rose. Final Arrangements Entrusted to Patrick H.
