Marietha Ondina Portillo

1949 - 2026

 Marietha Ondina Portillo, age 76, passed away peacefully on January 13, 2026, at her home in LaPlace, Louisiana. Marietha was born on February 24, 1949, in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. She lived a devoted life as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, and sister.

In August of 1970, Marietha and Jose came to New Orleans, Louisiana to begin a new life with their family. She was the heart of her home—a loving, dedicated mother to her children and a steadfast partner to her husband. Her life was defined by care, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion. She ensured her family was always nurtured, supported, and surrounded by warmth. Whether through quiet acts of service or unconditional love, she placed her family’s needs above her own, creating a home filled with comfort, laughter, and strength. She was a woman of faith, hope, encouragement, and resilience.

Marietha was a loving wife to Jose Evelio Portillo for 56 years, and together, they raised three children. She was a dedicated mother to Jose (Karina) Portillo, Martha (Hever) Espana, and Edwin (Keionni) Portillo. Her gentle spirit lives on in her grandchildren - Brianne (Michael) Jones, David Suarez, Donovan Brown, Victoria (Jordan) Miranda, Alyssa (Joshua) Petetant, Korey Sabree, Michael and Hever Espana, and Gabriella, Juliana, Edwin “Manny,” Isabella, Avah, and Alanah Portillo. Marietha's love extends to her great-grandchildren Nykole, Breelyn, Mariana, Mateo, Lauryn, Mila, and Lucas. Marietha is also remembered by her nephew Allan (Elisa) Martinez, niece Wendy Martinez, and goddaughters Carla Castillo and Nina Garcia.

Marietha is preceded in death by her parents, Manuel Salomon Martinez and Alicia Palma Martinez, and her older brother, Manuel Salomon Martinez Palma.

Although she will be deeply missed, her legacy lives on in the hearts of her husband, her children, and all who were blessed to know her. She leaves behind a family forever grateful for her love and a life beautifully lived.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service for Marietha on Saturday, January 24,2026 at Iglesia El - Buen Pastor Church, 5033 Wabash Street, Metairie, LA 70001. Pastor Gonzalo Rodriguez-Officiating. The memorial visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m. and the funeral service will begin at 12:00 p.m. Final Arrangements entrusted to Patrick H.
