MICHAEL GARY

Michael “Nig” Gary was called to eternal rest on Monday August 16, 2021, at the age of 65.  He was a lifelong resident of Algiers.  He was the son of the late Oscar Gary, Sr.  and Florence Wilson Gary.  Loving father of Erica (Schollander) Billingsley.  Grandfather of Shardai, Savion, Shawn, Skylar, Shamar and Shamari Billingsley.  Great grandfather of Sebastian and Amari Billingsley.  Godfather of Ja’Ron Berry.  He was the grandson of the late Isiah and Louise Wilson and Oscar Morris and Beulah Gary.  Brother of Mercedes Noil, Beulah Gary, Jeanne Williams and the late Oscar, Jr., Charles, Joseph, Harold, and Manuel Gary.  His devoted sister-in-law Schwane Gary and Devoted companion of Amanda Washington.    Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.  Relatives, Friend of the family, residents of The Algiers/Cut Off community and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral service at Fischer Community Church, 1737 L.B. Landry Avenue, New Orleans, LA  70114 on Saturday August 28, 2021, at 10:00 A.M., Pastor Walter Byes, Officiating.  Visitation at the aboved-named church from 8:00 A.M. until time of service.  Interment Eureka Cemetery, Algiers, LA.  In accordance with the CDC guidelines for COVID-19 everyone attending must wear a mask and practice social distancing.  Final arrangements entrusted to Patrick H.
