On Tuesday November 9, 2021, God called our sweet beloved Makhi Ja’Quan Spears home to rest. Brother Makhi was baptized at the early age of 11 at Beacon Light Baptist Church of Baton Rouge, LA. by Pastor/Overseer Eric A. Williams. Makhi was born a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Baton Rouge, LA. He was the second oldest of the six-pack born on October 19, 2003, to Schaquana Spears at University Hospital, New Orleans, LA. He was a student at Scotlandville Magnet High School. Beloved Makhi leaves to cherish his precious memories… his parents; Schaquana Spears and Lawrence Journee, Jr., siblings, Malik Spears, Lawrence Journee, III, Lauryn Journee, Layne Journee, Logan Spears. Grandparents Allison McLeod, Wilmer Elmore 3rd and Florence Franklin and Joseph Morgan. Aunt’s Allison Gray, Phillis Miles, Meiquisha Dolliole, Jonika Franklin, Lamahesha Albert and Tamika McCall, Uncle’s Lionel and Brian Spears, Kevin Gray, Wilmer Elmore IV, Rayne Williams, Dwoyne De’Jean, Sterling and Justin Pipkins. Devoted friend Amaya Sims and a host of great aunts, uncles, close cousins, family, and friends. He is preceded in death by Grandfather Lawrence Journee, Sr., and Great grandparents Leona and Alfred McLeod Sr., Anita and Wilmer Elmore Jr., Isabell Hall Franklin (Dear), cousins Jeffrey and Eugene McLeod and other aunt’s uncle’s and close friends.
Relatives, friends of the family, Pastors, Officers, and members of Beacon Light Baptist Church of Baton Rouge, LA and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral on Saturday, November 20, 2021, at Beacon Light B.C., 7513 Prescott Rd, Baton Rouge, LA. 70812 at 10:00 a.m. Pastor/Overseer Eric A. William-Officiant. In accordance with the CDC guidelines for COVID-19 all in attendance must wear a mask and practice social distancing. Interment Mt.
