Louis Edward McLendon also known as Louis E. (Dubose) McLendon was born June 15, 1946 in Shabuta, MS to Geneva Dubose Nelson and the late Martin McLendon, Jr. Louis was raised in Pachuta, MS and attended Mt.Jordan Methodist Church. Louis graduated from Southside High School in 1965. Upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1972. Louis was employed for 30 yrs with United Gas Pipeline/Koch Industries, Inc. He also attended trade school for HVAC and started a tire service business with his uncle Willie Dubose, Jr. He was also the initial investor and key team member of RYCARS Construction, LLC. Louis had a passion for restoring classic vehicles. During his retirement, he completed a 1965 Convertible Mustang and a 1972 Grand Torino. He was in the process of restoring a 1957 Chevy pick up truck. Louis enjoyed attending New Orleans Pelicans and Saints games yearly as a season ticket holder. He was a gentle soul, slow to speak, always there to listen. He loved his family and friends unconditionally. Louis is survived by his mother, Geneva Dubose Nelson. His childhood sweetheart, devoted and loving wife of 51 years Betty McGee McLendon, his two beautiful daughters: Stephanie (Ryan) Burks, Chandra (James) Mc Clinton both of Destrehan, LA; five grandchildren: Arielle, Ryan II and Caleb Burks, James and Joseph Mc Clinton. One godson Sean Nelson; three sisters: Vera (Azzaam) Rahmann, Janice Nelson, Jaqueline Davis; three brothers Ulysses Nelson, Willie (Cheryl) Nelson, Jeffery (Merina) Nelson. He also leaves behind a host of aunt, uncles,nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. Louis was preceded in death by his father Martin McLendon, Jr., Step Father Fred Nelson, grandmothers: Ida Brown McLendon, Laura Dubose; grandfathers: Martin Mc Lendon,Sr., Willie Dubose,Sr., Three siblings Laura Nelson, J.C. Nelson, and Robert Nelson. He will be deeply missed by everyone whose lives he touched. Employees of Koch Industries, Boardwalk and RYCARS Construction are invited to attend. Service for Louis E. McLendon Saturday October 23,2021 at St. Michael Baptist Church 315 James Street Kenner, LA 70062 at 11:00 a.m. In accordance with the CDC guidelines for COVID-19 all in attendance must wear a mask and practice social distancing.
