Leo Cornelius Turner, III

January 8, 1953 - January 3, 2026

Leo Cornelius Turner, III affectionately known as “PeeWee” was born on January 8, 1953, in Hahnville, Louisiana, to Margaret and Leo Cornelius Turner, Jr.  He was called home at Ochsner Medical Center – Kenner, LA on January 3, 2026.

Leo gave his life to the Lord at a young age at Philadelphia Baptist Church. He attended George Washington Carver High School and was a proud member of the Hahnville High School Class of 1973. That same year, he joined the United States Army, serving three years on active duty followed by two years in the United States Army Reserve.

After military service, Leo married Victoria Austin and was blessed with a son, Austin Ross Turner, in 1981. He became a certified electrician, taking pride in his craft, and lived in Long Beach, California, for more than 20 years before returning home to Louisiana.

Leo never met a stranger. Known for his warm smile, love for dancing, and joyful spirit, he brought laughter and connection wherever he went.

Leo leaves to cherish his memory, his beloved son, Austin Ross Turner; siblings, Catherine Gordon (Whitney) and Hasker Turner; aunts, Frozine Francis, Shirley Earl, and Willow Bea Claverie; uncles, Daniel Earl (Jewel) and Clarence Earl (Lois); extended family and friends.

 He was preceded in death by his parents, Margaret and Leo Turner, Jr.; maternal grandparents, Albirtha McCormick Earl and Robert Jupiter; paternal grandparents, Bessie and Clarence Ross; Aunt Iola Earl; and his sister, Betty Jones. 

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, officers and members of Historic Bethlehem Baptist Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to the Celebration of Life Services at 10:00am on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at Historic Bethlehem Baptist Church, 14989 River Rd, Hahnville, LA.  Visitation from 8:00am to 9:45am at the above-named Church.  Interment Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery, Hahnville, LA. There will also be a visitation from 3:00pm to 5:00pm on Friday, January 16, 2026 at the Patrick H. Sanders Funeral Home, 605 Main Street, Laplace, LA 70068.
