1938 - 2024

On Monday, December 2, 2024, Lena Pollard was called to her eternal resting place. While we are saddened by her transition, we know that God loves her best.  Lena was born on November 24, 1938, to the late Norman Samuel Sr. and Estella Pierre Samuel. She was the 6th girl and the 7th child born amongst her 13 siblings.

She married the late Calvin “Kools” Pollard on July 2, 1988; no children were born to this union.  Lena served as a faithful Deaconess at The Historical Bell Baptist Church in Luling, until her declining health prevented her from doing so.

She was preceded in death by her husband Calvin “Kools” Pollard, her parents Estella and Norman Samuel, Sr., the following siblings and in-laws, Ethel Savoie (McKinley), Corinne Lumar (Victor), Anita Morris (Lloyd), Norman “Veno” Samuel, Jr., Eunice Smith (Jessel), Henry Samuel, Sr. (Josephine), Eula Johnson (Oliver), Margaret Lumar (Helmond, Sr.), Julia Joseph (Matthew), Riley Samuel, Valentine Melancon.

She leaves to cherish her memories, her brother Ronald Samuel (Thyra), 4 sisters- in-law, Mildred Samuel, Shirley Jones, Jessie Melancon, a devoted sister-in-law, Leotha Pollard, a devoted brother-in-law, Albert Pollard, a devoted niece, Mechelle Pollard, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of Historic Bell Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at The Historic Bell Baptist Church, 300 Hackberry Street, Luling, LA 70070. Rev. Rodney L. Johnson, Sr., Pastor-Officiant. Visitation 9:00am until the time of service at the above-named church. Interment St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 2349 LA-18, Edgard, LA 70049.
