Le'Kenya Marie Perrilloux Dunlap

1973 - 2025

Le’Kenya Marie Perrilloux-Dunlap entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 5, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at Ochsner Medical Center, Kenner, LA.  Le’Kenya was born on October 20, 1973, to the union of the late Elwin Louis and Joann Perrilloux-Hart in New Orleans, LA. She was the first of three children to derive from that union. Le’Kenya received her education in the St. John the Baptist Parish Public School System. After graduating from East St. John High School, Le’Kenya joined the United States Air Force. Le’Kenya served until being honorably discharged in 1995.

In 1999, Le’Kenya accepted Christ and was baptized by Pastor Forell Bering, Sr. at Bethlehem Baptist Church in Reserve, Louisiana. Le’Kenya served whenever asked and she adored being a VSB teacher.

Le’Kenya was united in marriage to Ooster Dunlap in 1997. Their union was favored with two children: D’Avaughn and Trezhur Dunlap. Le’Kenya was blessed to become the proud grandmother of two: Kaaci Breaux and Justice “Juju” Dunlap. Le’Kenya was also blessed to have Jayla Brown as a bonus granddaughter.

Le’Kenya enjoyed spending time with her family, whether it was traveling or just hanging out. She leaves to Cherish her memories her spouse, Ooster Dunlap, her children Trezhur and D’Avaughn, as well as her grandchildren (Justice and Kaaci).  Her mother, Jo Ann Perrilloux Hart, her maternal aunts, Alice Perrilloux Washington, Judy Perrilloux Langley and maternal uncle Ramsey Perrilloux, Sr., her paternal aunts, Lansley Dixon, Jo Marie Hart, and paternal uncles; Leroy, Dale Henry, and Keith Hart. Le’Kenya cherished her relationship with her sibling, Nadia Hart, Juwan (Bryan) Soniat, Lyndon Johnson, Calwin (Alisha) Patterson, and her bonus sister Sherita Johnson. Le’Kenya also leaves a hole in the hearts of her nieces and nephews to whom she is affectionately known as “Tee Keys.”  She will also be missed by a host of family members, friends and her godchild Harleigh Decay, and her best friend Vanessa Cosey Lebranch.

Le’Kenya was preceded in death by her father, Elwin Louis Hart, Maternal grandparents, Edwin Perrilloux, Sr. and Bessie Mae Perrilloux Brown, her paternal grandparents Audrey and Leroy Hart, Sr., maternal uncles Leonard Breaux, Sr. and Edwin Perrilloux, Jr. and her maternal aunts Wanda Lee Hart and Floyd Ann Hart; her paternal cousins Roslynn Hart, Larry Bayars and Willie Bayars, Jr.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of Bethlehem Baptist Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to the Celebration of Life Service at 10:00am on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at Bethlehem Baptist Church, 146 E. 20th Street, Reserve, LA 70084. Rev. Dr. Forell Bering, Sr.-Pastor-Officiating. Visitation 8:00am until the time of service. Interment will be private. Final Arrangements Entrusted to Patrick H.
