Larry Darnell Jefferson, on March 22, 2022, God sent his angles to welcome Larry home at the age of 64. He was born on February 4, 1958, as the ninth child of Charles and Sarah S Smith Jefferson.
Larry was baptized at an early age by his uncle the late Rev. Amos Sumler at Bell Baptist Church in Luling, LA. He attended Boutte Elementary, J.B. Martin, Jr. High and was a graduate of Hahnville High School. Upon graduating high school he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps serving for six years with completion in Auto Mechanics and Logisitics. After completing his military service, he became an 18 wheeler truck driver for years and later he became a supervisor at multiple packaging plants from Louisiana to California. He then decided to make Houston, Texas his home where he resided until the Lord called him home.
He was the former husband of Tammy August Jefferson and to this union two daughters were born: Morgan K. “Chrissy” Jefferson and Jeanette “Jimmy Lee” August. He was also stepfather of Leslie August.
He leaves to cherish his life and memories forever, his children Morgan K. Jefferson, Jeanette August, Leslie August. Seven Grandchildren and one great grandchild on the way. His siblings; Charles, Jr. of Houma, LA, Lucille Jefferson, Boutte, LA., Thomas (Sheila) Jefferson, Luling, LA., and Kathy J. (Charles) Hargrove of Virginia, Step-sister, Peggy Davis of Thibodaux, LA, his loving Aunt/Mother Deloras Pollard of Boutte, plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
Larry loved being out on the road riding his motorcycle all over the southern states and California. He was active in a few motorcycle clubs in New Orleans LA, Texas, and California. He loved to eat good food, listen to jazz and instrumental music. He lived his life and wouldn’t want us to be sad. He would say “go eat, I’m alright.”
He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Sarah Jefferson, Granddaughter, Camilyn Devare, his 4 brothers; Eddie Michael, Lawrence, Louis Lynn and Anthony; 2 Sisters. Sarah Annette Turner and Elisa Mae Rosette.
On behalf of the Jefferson family, we would like to thank everyone for the kindness that was shown during out time of bereavement. Perhaps you sent a card, fixed a dish, visited for a while, called, or simply prayed for us. Just know that we are eternally grateful and gracious for all that was done. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Patrick H. Sanders Funeral Home, 605 Main Street, LaPlace, LA 70068. Everyone in attendance must adhere to the CDC guideline for COVID-19. Visitation at the above-named funeral home, 9:00 am until time of service. Interment with be private.
