Kerwin Vaughn Mitchell, Sr.

1966 - 2024

Kerwin Vaughn Mitchell Sr., a beloved husband, father, son, brother, and friend to many, passed away on July 9th, 2024, at the age of 57. Born on November 13, 1966, Kerwin was raised in St. James Parish (Vacherie) and later resided in St. Rose, LA. Kerwin is survived by his devoted wife of 26 years, Dana Coleman Mitchell; cherished daughters DeJoan Renae and Melana Terrell Mitchell; beloved son Kerwin Vaughn Mitchell Jr.; siblings Kay Bethancourt (Reginald), Willie Mitchell, and Ken Mitchell (Freda). He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Clyde, and Melvina Lewis Mitchell. Kerwin graduated from St. James High School in 1985 and went on to earn his associate degree from Delgado Community College, where he majored in Automotive Technology. He was a Process Technician at Shell Norco by profession but known for much more than that - Kerwin was an avid automotive aficionado with a passion for music and fishing. His congenial personality made it easy for him to connect with others, as he never met a stranger. In addition to his professional pursuits and hobbies, Kerwin was also an organist in the local church community.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers, and Members of Destiny Christian Center of LaPlace, Fifth African Baptist Church of St. Rose, Highway Baptist Church of Vacherie, and all neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral service at 10:00am on Tuesday, July 16th at Destiny Christian Center, 612 Main Street in LaPlace, Louisiana.
