Beloved daughter, sister and aunt

Keitra Kantrell Della, 47 passed away on April 5, 2025 at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport, Mississippi.  She was born on January 25, 1978 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Connie Lee Della and Willie Lee Sheilds.

Keitra received her early education through the Public School System of Saint John the Baptist Parish in Reserve, Louisiana.  She was actively involved in athletics with a special passion for basketball. She later transferred to the school system in New Orleans, Louisiana attending Alcee Fortier Senior High School in the class of 1997. She participated in the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program.

At the age of six, Keitra accepted Christ and was baptized at New Pilgrim Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Reverend Peter Snyder. Keitra remained a devoted member of the church participating in the Junior Choir, Youth Ministry and theatrical productions, including annual performances in the church's Annual Christmas Program.  In addition, she was a proud member of the Brian Lewis Gospel Group where she continued to share her love for music and ministry.

Cherishing her memories are her beloved mother Connie Della; her siblings Allana Della and Mattie Della, Hope Lane, Quanshanta Lane. Hattie Lane, Dymphana Lane, Vonda Jefferson, Quinton Lockett, Calbert Lane, Willie Lane and Louis Lane. She is also lovingly remembered by her nieces: Leeanna and Naomi Della; her nephew, Rashaan Taite; as well as a host aunts, uncles, cousins, and many other cherished relatives and friends.

Keitra was preceded in death by her father, Willie Shields; grandparents Oscar and Beatrice Della, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of New Pilgrim Baptist Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to a Celebration of Life Memorial Service at 10:00am on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, 107 Pilgrim Street, Reserve, LA 70068.  Rev. Dr. Forell Bering, Pastor-Officiant.
