Josey Lee Chatman

Josey Lee Robinson Chatman departed her earthly life on Monday, April 18, 2022, at Ochsner Health Center in Kenner, Louisiana. Josey was born on April 29, 1936, to the late Joseph Robinson and Alberta Brown Robinson in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. Josey was educated in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.

Josey was the proud mother of her daughter, Janice P. Adams. In 1978, Josey was joined in holy matrimony with Joseph Chatman, Sr. She became a loving stepmother to his four children.

Josey was employed as a home health aide for multiple years and was a wonderful homemaker throughout her earthly lifetime. She warmly welcomed family and friends into her home with wonderfully home-cooked meals, lively conversations, and an abundance of laughter. Josey especially loved spending time in the presence of her great-grandchildren, whom she loved dearly and spoke of fondly at any chance she was given. Josey also enjoyed listening to gospel music on her CD player.

Josey leaves to cherish her fond memory:  son-in-law, Richard Adams (Beverly) of LaPlace, Louisiana; her stepchildren, Donald Chatman (Irene) of Ferriday, Louisiana; Joseph Chatman, Jr. (Elvira) of Muscatine, Iowa; Melvin Chatman (Pauline) of St. Louis, Missouri; and Maryann James of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; her grandchildren, Xorica Patrick (Leonard) of Brandon, Mississippi, and Kendra Barton-Odro (Derek) of Gonzales, Louisiana; her great-grandchildren, Delvin Kelly, Jr., Kaitlyn Barton-Odro, and Henry Patrick; along with a host of nieces, relatives, and friends.

Josey is preceded in death by her parents, Alberta, and Joseph Robinson; her husband, Joseph Chatman; Sr.; her daughter, Janice P. Adams; and her brother, Charlie Robinson.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to the funeral service on Friday, April 29, 2022, at 10:00 am, Patrick H. Sanders Funeral Home, 605 Main Street, LaPlace, LA   70068. All in attendance must adhere to the CDC guidelines for COVID-19. Visitation at the above-named funeral home, 9:00am until time of service.
