Joseph Darren Gray

1961 - 2025

Joseph Darren Gray departed this life peacefully surrounded by his family on Monday, April 7, 2025, age, 64. On March 3, 1961, Joseph Darren “Big Money” Gray was born to the union of the late Mildred E. Nicholson and Joseph Gray, Jr.

Darren was employed by Hertz Rent-A-Car company for many years until his retirement. He was an avid Saints fan and let’s not forget his frequent trips to the Casino. His most enjoyable pastime was hanging out on 21st Street, under the tree with his buddies. His love for his 2003 Ford F-150 was undeniable.

Joseph was a devoted Father and Grandfather. He leaves to cherish his memory, his Son, Darius Gray (Jessica) and Daughter, Demetria Zeno. Granddaughter, Jaliyal Gray and Grandson, Joshua Quillens, Jr., two Sisters, Kelly Gray (Kenneth) and Leah Davis, two brothers, Kenny L. Gray, and Brian Davis (Nicole). Godchildren, Brandi L. Reynaud and Breshell Nicholson. Darren is survived by three Aunts, Joyce Johnson, Mercedes Garcia and Imogene Nicholson.  He is also survived by his devoted friends, nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives.

He is preceded in death by his loving parents, the later Mildred Eve and Joseph Gray, Jr., Grandparents, Louise Nicholson, Albert Roy Nicholson, Lillie Jackson Gray and Joseph Gray, Sr.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of Tchoupitoulas Chapel and all surrounding Churches are invited to the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am on Friday, April 25, 2025, at Tchoupitoulas Chapel, 1022-LA 44, Reserve, LA 70084. Rev. Lionel Murphy, Pastor-Officiant. Visitation 10:00am until time of service at the above-named Church. Interment will be private. Final Arrangements Entrusted to Patrick H.
