Jessie L. Smith, Jr.

1922- 2025

Jessie L. Smith, Jr. whose life was a testament to joy, faith, and dedication, was born on August 12, 1922, and passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2025, at the age of 103.

Jessie proudly served his country in the United States Army for four years in the Eight Hundred Fifty Sixth Aviation Battalion and was honorably discharged in 1946. Following his military service, he established a successful career as a chief engineer, working at Flint Goodridge Hospital for 24 years and Notre Dame Seminary for 10 years, where he retired in 1989.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, officers and members of Fifth African Baptist Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to the Celebration of Life Services at 10:00am on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Fifth African Baptist Church, 174 4th Street, St. Rose, LA 70087.  Rev. Gerald L. Vinnett, Sr. Pastor-Officiating.  Visitation 8:00am until the time of service at the above-named Church.  Interment St. Charles Borrermo Cemetery, 13396 River Rd, Destrehan, LA 70047.  Final Arrangements entrusted to Patrick H.
