James, Teague, Sr.

1942 - 2025

James Teague Sr., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and faithful servant of Jehovah God, fell asleep in death on Saturday, September 27, 2025, at the age of 82.

James Teague Sr. was born on December 23, 1942, in Grenada, MS to the late Louis Teague and Sarah Ann Hurd-Teague. James was proceeded in death by his wife Lilly Ann Cooper-Teague and his brothers George Teague Sr. and Charles Teague Sr.

He began working to help support his family while in the 3rd grade. His hobby was fishing. He took a keen interest in home construction (house framing) at the age of 8 and progressed to be a well-known and established self-employed house framer-contractor who built his family home in 1977. After retiring from house framing contracting, he began working with his son Jeil, whom he taught the trade of house framing, after Hurricane Katrina in home renovation until he retired at age 65.

On June 13, 2009, he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and became a devoted member of the Riverbend Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. For 16 years, he dedicated much of his life to sharing the Bible’s message and the good news of God's Kingdom with others in the community.

He is survived by his children, Herbert Teague and spouse Ola Teague, James Teague Jr., Susan Alexandria Teague-Ferrygood and spouse Karsten Ferrygood, Chanda Rae Teague-Robinson and spouse Byron Robinson, and Jeil Teague and spouse Reshonda Teague; his four siblings: Virginia Christine Pratt, Jessie (Linda) Teague, Louise (Joe) O’Banner, Sarah Teague;  and many cherished nephews, nieces, grandchildren, extended family members, and friends.

The family finds immense comfort in the Bible’s hope of a resurrection when they will see him again in a future earthly paradise (John 5:28, 29).
