Mr. Isiah Douglas, Jr.

November 26, 1941 - August 29, 2025

Isiah Douglas, Jr., 83, affectionately known as “Daddy, Paw-Paw, I-June, Ike and Pop” by his family and friends. He was born on November 26, 1941, at Charity Hospital New Orleans, LA to the union of the late Isiah Douglas Sr. and Leona Phillips. He was one of seventeen children.

Isiah transitioned to his heavenly home on Friday, August 29, 2025, at his home in New Sarpy, LA.

He trusted in God and loved his church. He was baptized at St. Matthew Baptist Church in New Sarpy, LA by the late Pastor L. Snowden where he was currently a member until his death. Isiah was educated in the St. Charles Parish School System.

He worked for St. Charles Grain Elevator, Bunge Grain Elevator, Scaffolding company and for his nephew cleaning barges on the Mississippi River.

On June 24, 1967 he was married in holy matrimony to the late Bernice Augillard and to this union was born six (6) beautiful children: Theresa (Wilfred) Smothers, Destrehan, LA; Penny (Kim) Henry, Laplace, LA; Isiah (Tonja) Douglas, III, Jacksonville, Fl.; Rewa Douglas, Lake Charles, LA; and twin sons who predeceased him.

He leaves to mourn his siblings: “Lou” Ethel Mae Douglas and Cardell (Jeanette) Shorts. 11 Grandchildren: Wilfred Jr., Whitney, Ireneisha, Wynrick, Amber, Corey, Trenice, Taylor, Ayana, Ashia, and Jasmine; 16 great grandchildren; 1 Godchild Angela Augillard. Sisters and Brothers-in-Law: Mary Eugene, Barbara Hill, Irene Augillard, Stacie Bell Brooks, Sharlene Sanders, Lori Mae Augillard and Morrial Augillard, Ernest Augillard, Jerome Eugene, and Theodore Sanders. Also, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his Grandmother: Isabelle Taylor; Grandfather: Daniel Douglas; Siblings: Grace Lewis, Willie Lee Miller, Leona Patterson, Mary Lee Joseph, Myrtle Douglas, Inez Douglas, Pearl Douglas, Joseph Douglas, Roosevelt Douglas, and Milton Douglas.

Sisters and Brothers-in-law: Beulah Douglas, Lorraine Douglas, Johnnie Mae Evers, and Rena Augillard. James Miller, Clarence Joseph Sr., Aldoph Butler, John Augillard, Emile Augillard, Wayne Augillard, Leroy Hill, Lloyd, and Floyd Augillard.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, officers and members of St. Matthews Baptist Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to a Celebration of Life Service at 10:00amon Saturday, September 13, 2025, at St. Matthews Baptist Church, 604 E S Johnson Street, New Sarpy, LA 70047. Rev. Albert Bailey, Pastor-Officiant. Visitation 9:00am until the time of service at the above-named Church. Interment Jefferson Memorial Gardens, 11316 River Rd, St. Rose, LA 70087.
