Isabell Pigott Johnson

1935 - 2023

Isabell P. Johnson transitioned from this life to her eternal resting place on August 4, 2023. "Is" to some and "Sip" to others was born in Tylertown, Mississippi on December 3, 1935. She was the cherished and loving wife of Charles E. Johnson. She was the eldest daughter of Aaron and Louise Bartley and the oldest sister of Anne Young, Maxine Ousley, Carolyn Armant, and Betty Craig.

At an early age she moved to and lived her formative years in Vacherie, Louisiana. After moving to New Orleans with her parents, she attended F. P. Ricard and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. Isabell was active in school sports, softball, and basketball. One of her favorite pastimes was football with her favorite team being the New Orleans Saints. She was an active and faithful member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in New Orleans until it closed; where she was a dedicated, joyful member of the choir for over 30 years who loved singing and fulfilled the word, "Whatsoever you find your hands to do, do it with all your might."  After the closing of Our Lady of Lourdes she started attending St. Jude Catholic Church in New Orleans where she continued her faithfulness and dedication to singing in the choir until permanently moving to Mobile, Alabama where she began attending St. Dominic Catholic Church. She attended St. Dominic in person until she was no longer able to do so at which time, she began faithfully observing Mass via television and keeping communion with the assistance of her St. Dominic Catholic Church family.

Relatives and friends of the family, Priests and Parishioners of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church & International Shrine of St. Jude, St. Dominic Catholic Church, employees and/or retirees of NOPSI, TMSEL and RTA are invited to a Funeral Mass at 10:00am on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 411 Rampart Street, New Orleans, LA  70112. Visitation 9:00am until time of Funeral at the above-named church. Interment Hopeful Triumphant Baptist Church, 38584 LA-22, Darrow, LA 70725. Final Arrangements Entrusted to Patrick H.
