Irving Jackson, Jr. Obituary
The Legacy Of Irving Jackson, Jr.
Irving Jackson, Jr. was born into his earthly life on June 30, 1947, to the late Irving, Sr., and the late Evelina Jackson, of St. Charles Parish, in Louisiana. He departed his earthly life and entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at New Orleans East Hospital.
As a young teenager Irving had an interest in fast cars and what made them work. That curiosity and knowledge opened the doors for him to become the family’s go-to auto mechanic. He was also a jack of all trades but a Master Auto Mechanic and ASE Certified. There was nothing Irving could not take apart and put back together again.
He was employed at Avondale Shipyard and a Master Automotive Mechanic at B.F. Goodrich, before stepping out on faith and becoming a business owner of I.J. Automotive, in Gretna, LA for over 40 years. His customers, employees, mentees, family, and friends all called him IJ.
Irving accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at New Hope Baptist Church in Gretna, LA. He attended school in the St. Charles Parish Public School System and graduated from George Washington Carver High School.
He met the love of his life, the late Lorraine C. Jackson, from New Orleans, LA. They joined together in holy matrimony in 1966. Their union was blessed with four children: three daughters and one son.
Irving was preceded to eternal rest by beloved family members. He will be reunited with his wife Lorraine C. Jackson: His parents Irving, Sr. and Evelina Jackson; His siblings: Betty Hall, and Andrew Jackson, Sr.; Mother-in-law; Mildred Cannon, Brother in laws: Isaac, Sr., Peter Cannon, Jr., Sterling Foster, Sr., Sister-in-laws: Delores Cannon, Maxine Foster and Godchildren: Bernice Young Daniels and Paul Dellafosse, Jr., Godmother Rita Jackson.
