HENRY JONES, JR.

1945-2024

Henry Jones, Jr., born on August 26, 1945, in Waterproof, LA, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2024, at the age of 78. A beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. Henry was known for his kindness, dedication, and exceptional skills as a certified auto mechanic.

Henry developed a passion for automotive repair work that would shape his professional life.  His commitment to his craft was evident in the meticulous care he took with every job, earning him the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. After decades of hard work, Henry retired, leaving behind a legacy of excellence and integrity in his field.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Jones, Sr. and Victoria Jones, his daughter, Lisa Whitley Fields, his two brothers, James Jones and Abe Jones, Sr., and his two sisters, Lelia Myles, and Rosie Jones. Despite these profound losses, Henry remained a pillar of strength for his family, offering support and love whenever it was needed.

Henry leaves to cherish his memories his devoted daughter, Natasha Chambers and her two siblings, Kendall Chambers and Tiffany Chambers; three adored grandchildren, Nykia Chambers, Jermond Chambers and Janiya Chambers; two cherished nieces, Quintella Myles and Calissa Jones; and two beloved nephews, Thomas Myles, III and Abe Jones, Jr.  He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Thomas Myles, Jr., his sister-in-law, Julia Jones Norwood and a host of other relatives and friends who will forever hold him in their hearts.

Henry’s life was a testament to hard work, resilience, and the power of family bonds. His warm smile, gentle demeanor and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who had the honor or knowing him. As we remember Henry, we celebrate a life well-lived and find comfort is the enduring impact he had on those around him.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of New Rescue Mission Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to a Celebration of Life Service at New Rescue Mission Baptist Church, 361 E. 14th Street, Reserve, LA 70084 at 11:00am on Friday, May 24, 2024.  Rev. Devin Mason, Pastor-Officiant.  Visitation 9:00am until time of service at the above-named church.  Interment St. John Memorial Gardens, 2500 W.
