Bro. Earl Harold Augusta

1935 - 2024

Bro. Earl Harold Augusta was born on July 18, 1935, to the late Hazel Sheppard Augusta Wheaton and Ernest Augusta. God saw fit to call Earl home on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at his home surrounded by his sister and brother-in-law.  He was a resident of Avondale for over 50 years.

Earl was married to the late Fannie Stewart Augusta.  Earl was baptized at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church on Sunday, June 9, 2024, by Rev. Damian J. Brown.  His favorite scripture Psalms 23 where he had a copy in his bed at all times and didn’t forget the cell phone in his hand, so he could watch the time and tell you “you are late.” 

He leaves to cherish his memories (2) sisters and brothers-in-law, Althea (Claude) Roberts and Wilhelmina (Roosevelt) Simmons, (2) Godsons, Daniel Parquet and Kendric Matthews, Sr.  Devoted cousin Gloria Stockman, devoted friend Russell, Sr. and Angell Diggs.  Caregivers Contrella Norman, Sandra Stewart, Denene Thomas and Chelsi Matthews.  He also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Fannie Stewart Augusta. Parents Hazel S. Wheaton and Ernest & Florestine Augusta.  Brothers Stafford Augusta and Lester Davis.  Sisters Evelina M. Robertson, Viola G. Sumler, Albertha S. Alford, and Elouise Matthews, Uncles Wilbert, Morris and Oscar Augusta, Ellau, Lawrence, Cleveland Sheppard.  Aunts Adlean A. Bethancourt, Blanche S. Foucher, Ethel S. Morris, Mecedes S. Fountain, Joyce S. Armant, Elnora S. Poche and Fabola Sheppard.  Grandparents Victorian and Phciela Gordon Sheppard and Octave and Admonia Augusta.

Relatives, friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church and all neighboring churches, also the International Longshoremen’s Association Local No. 3000 of New Orleans, LA are all invited to the funeral services at 10:00am on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 433 Avondale Gardens Rd, Avondale, LA 70094.   Rev. Damian J. Brown, Pastor/Officiating.  Visitation 8:00am until time of service at the above-named church.  Interment Restlawn Park, Avondale, LA​​
