Sis. Dorothy “Dot” Johnson

Dorothy Melonson-Johnson affectionately known as “Dot-Dot or Tee Dot” departed her earthly life on August 2, 2024, age 75. She was a native of Luling, LA. Dorothy was born on August 24, 1948, to the late Nolan Melonson, Sr., and Mildred Rue Melonson. She was the third of six children.

Dorothy joined the Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church #3 under the leadership of the late Paster Louis Ernest, Sr., and the current leadership of Pastor Norman D. Smith, III.   She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Usher Board for over 40 plus years.  She was also a very active member of the Culinary Ministry, Women’s Ministry, Senior Citizens Ministry and Pastor Support Ministry, until her health began to fail.  A link has been once again removed from our Zion family.

Dorothy later then placed her membership at the Historic Bethlehem Baptist Church of Hahnville, LA, under the leadership of Pastor Rodney L. Johnson, Sr. We say farewell Sis Johnson as you have gone to that special place prepared just for you, where there is no more sorrow, sickness, or pain.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her siblings, Geraldine Keys, Margaret McCarthy, Patricia Melonson, a brother, Nolan Melonson, Jr., a daughter, Sholonda Melonson-Davis, a grandson Damion Celestine, a great granddaughter Samaya Melonson and Aunt Tee-Eva Loyce Perry.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory, three sons Tharence White, Brian White and Cleveland Williams, III, daughter Trashon Davis, 5 grandsons, 8 granddaughters, 10 great grandsons, 12 great great granddaughters, two sisters, Louise Stepher of New Orleans, LA and Gloria Johnson of Hahnville, LA. 2 God daughters, Shanell Smith and Leila Frances. 1 God Son, Trinity Williams and best friend of 56 years, Theresa Lewis. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of the Historic Bethlehem Baptist Church and all neighboring churches are invited to the Celebration of Life Services at 11:00am on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at the Historic Bethlehem Baptist Church, 14989 River Rd, Hahnville, LA 70057. Rev. Rodney L. Johnson, Sr., Pastor-Officiant. Interment Bethlehem Baptist Cemetery, Hahnville, LA 70057. Visitation 9:00am until time of service at the above-named church.
