The Life of Deaconess Doris Clark Williams

“I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness,

which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.”

2 Timothy 4:7-8

 On Wednesday, May 15, 2024, Sis. Doris Clark Williams, a servant of God, transitioned to her heavenly home. Sis. Doris Williams was born on October 17, 1935 in Ama, Louisiana to the union of the late Lista B. Guilfore and Purnell Clark. She was one of six children: Ernest Patterson, Jr., the late Earl, Malcolm, Sr. and Gloria Mae Clark and the late Beverly Byrd.

 She gave her life to the Lord and accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized in the mighty Mississippi River at an early age. She served as a deaconess for 46 years until the Lord called her home. Her favorite song was “Never Would Have Made It by Marvin Sapp.” One of her favorite scriptures was Psalm 23.

 On June 18, 1955, she was united in holy matrimony to the late Preston Williams of Luling, Louisiana. To this union, five children were born: Monica Williams, Katherine Williams, Charmaine Williams, Lisa Williams Johnson (Kenneth) and Trina Williams Brignac. Sis. Doris Williams was the proud and devoted grandmother of Trae Williams, Cherrelle Williams Onuoha (Victor), John Brignac, Jr., Trejon Brignac, Dominique Major, Akira Zeringue, Akendra Johnson and the late Jemyra Johnson. She was the loving great-grandmother to Ja’Miyah, Jeremiah and Jailey Brignac, Rah’saan Major and her angel great grand-babies Obasi, Rain and Ezra Onuoha.

 Sis. Doris Williams attended George Washington Carver High School. She was a graduate of the Class of 1955. As observed by Pastor Nobles, Sis. Doris Williams, being reared in the church from a young age, could recite the Church Covenant which, she lived by. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing  and gardening. Her tulips were the talk of the town. Many times, people stopped in front of her house holding up traffic to ask if her tulips were real. She replied “Yes ,they are.” She was a master chef when it came to crawfish bisque and smothered okra, among many other dishes. She had pre-order requests for her bisque. Her lemon pies from scratch were to die for. Instead of shopping at the mall, she used her personal touch to sew clothing for her girls. She was passionate about spending time with family and friends at gatherings. One of her all time favorites about gatherings was hosting the Krewe of Lul festivities at her home.

  She leaves a legacy of memories to be cherished by her children: Monica, Katherine, Charmaine, Lisa (Kenneth) and Trina; grandchildren: Trae, Cherrelle (Victor), John, Jr., Trejon, Dominique, Akira and Akendra; Brother Ernest Patterson, Jr.; Stepsister Jean G. Washington; Godchild Bonnie White; Brother and Sisters-in-law: Morris Williams, Sr., Patricia Patterson, Shirley Green, Joyce Clark and Vivian Clark; Devoted family members: Sharon Simpkins, Gloria Blakes, Jacklin White, Mary Washington, Sharon Jackson and Albert Pollard. She also leaves to cherish her memories a host of family and friends.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Lista Guilfore and Purnell Clark; husband Preston Williams; sisters Beverly Byrd (Anthony) and Gloria Mae; brothers Earl and Malcolm Clark, Sr.; granddaughter Jemyra Johnson and angel great grand-babies Obasi, Rain and Ezra Onuoha. She was loved by many but God loved her best.

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Historic Bell Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Baptist Church, St. Rose, LA. and all surrounding churches, Department of Planning & Zoning of St. Charles Parish, Access Health Louisiana, Metals USA, Eeurofins New Orleans, EXCELth Family Health Center, Gentilly, LA are invited to a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00am on Saturday May 25, 2024 at Mt. Zion Misionary Baptist Church,10867 River Rd, Ama, LA 70031.  Visitation 9:00am until time of service at the above-named church.  Interment St. Mary Cemetery, 2024 Paul Maillard Rd, Boutte, LA 70039.  Final Arrangements Entrusted to Patrick H.
