Dontas Kevin Johnson, Jr.

1999 - 2025

Dontas Kevin Johnson, Jr., 26, of La Place, transitioned January 26, 2025, on his 26th birthday. He was born January 26, 1999, in Metairie, the son of Dontas and Ayana Williams Johnson. Upon his mother's death, he came under the guardianship of his godparents, Benjamin Chaney and Rachel Chaney. He was a member of the inaugural 8th grade class of Emily C Watkins Elementary and graduated from East St. John High School in 2018, where he was a member of the 4-H Club. After high school, he joined the Air Force Reserves and began his career aspirations of becoming a vocal artist. He has several songs released on Apple Music under his stage name, 7. 

He was employed at the Ochsner Behavioral Health Hospital as a Patient Care Technician and planned to begin Registered Nurse training in August. 

Dontas is survived by his son, Sage Johnson; his dad, Dontas Johnson Sr of Austin, Texas; his brother, Brad Wilson and his sister, Summer Johnson, both of La Place and his sister Shayla Vinnett of Texas; His godmother, aunt and guardian Rachel Chaney; His godfather, Benjamin Chaney.  His nephew Khalil Alexis and His goddaughter, Kristina Newman of La Place; devoted aunts and uncles who were instrumental in raising him, Christopher Newman, Sr, and Alfred and Adriane Sherrod. He also leaves a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives, and friends. He is also survived by his son's mother, Amya Jones of Boston, Massachusetts. 

He is preceded on death by his maternal and paternal grandparents, his mother, Ayana Williams Theodore, his Auntie Sharon and his two big cousins, Kye West and Christian Newman. 

Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and members of Celebration Church and all neighboring Churches are invited to the Funeral Service at 11:00am on Friday, February 7, 2025, at Celebration Church, 3400 Hwy. 51, Laplace, LA 70068.  Visitation 10:00am until time of funeral at the above-named church.
