Donna Allen Leonard

Donna Allen Leonard, 70, of LaPlace, LA, was called to rest on February 20, 2025. Donna was born in New Orleans, LA, on October 14,1954 to Mr. James and Mrs. Audrey Allen. She was one of four sisters. Donna was educated in the Jefferson Parish school system at Grace King. Donna accepted Christ and was baptized at the age of five at House of Prayer in Jefferson Parish.

Donna was married to Edward Leonard, Sr. for 53 years. This union blessed was blessed with three children, Edward Leonard, Jr. (Jouna), Jimmy Leonard (Thaedra), and Audrell Dumas. Donna carried the name “Woman” because she seemed “before her time.” She loved a good ole western movie and enjoyed spending time with her grand and great-grand kids. Donna was a member of New Macedonia Baptist Church in Metairie, pastored by the late Murphy Bowman and later became a member of Hopeful Triumph Baptist Church in Darrow, LA.

Memories of her life will be cherished by her husband Edward Leonard, Sr., sons: Edward Jr. (Jouna), Jimmy (Thaedra), daughter Audrell, grand children: Johnae Prout (Shawn), Edward Leornard III, Darrius Tyree Davis, Darryelle Davis, Chelsie Stewart, Taylor Washington, Ziya Dumas and Zane Dumas, great grandchildren: Davonte Duhe, Jr., Legaci Duhe, Jalaiyah Leonard, Jayden Prout, Ja’Khi Prout, Timleigh Allen and Denver Washington, sisters Abergail Bowman and Kareem Knoten, two brothers Larry and James Vernon Knoten, devoted best friends Patrica Lewis and Sherry Vicknair, also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents James and Audrey Allen, sisters Jolene Edgerson and Eunice Logan, brother Thelbert McGee, Sr., and great grandchild Edward Leonard, IV.

Donna will be lovingly remembered and missed.

Relatives, friends of the family, Pastors, Officers and Members of Hopeful Triumph Baptist Church, Body of Christ Fellowship Church, Metairie, LA, New Rescue Mission Baptist Church, Reserve, LA, Oakland Baptist Church, Kenner, LA, and all neighboring Churches, also employees of St. John the Baptist Parish and Ascension Parish School Board are invited to the Funeral Services at 11:00am on Saturday, March 1, 2025 at Hopeful Triumph Baptist Church, 38584 LA-22, Darrow, Louisiana 70725.
