Dicie Harris
1944 - 2024
Dicie Harris peacefully transitioned on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at 6:23 pm at her home in LaPlace, LA. She is survived by her husband, Royal Benjamin Harris, Jr, her children: Thaddeus Wilson, Sr (his children: Thaddeus Jr. and Tariq Wilson) and Danielle Harris (her children: Kahlil and Kyli Nelson, Ja’Tahj and Juvernia Mitchell and Anthony Anderson, Jr). She also shared motherly love with the late Gloria Brown Mealy Webber and (her children: Keondra, Durwin, and Rondell Mealey). Dicie was the sister of the late Willie H. Moore and the late David Harris, Sister-in-law of Donnie (Atrula), Isam (Darlene), Chauncey (Jackie), Jarvis (Cassandra), Dwayne Harris, Rose Harris Wilright and Myrna Harris Henderson (Bernie), and the late Ida Harris. She was the grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She also shared sisterly love with Hattie Scales, Edith H. Smith, Sandra Ann Brown, Mary Thelma Harris and Aretha Gillard, Godmother of Hilda and Diana Young and special Aunt to Jacquelyn Fedison, Terri and Sharon Harris as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Relatives and friends of the family, Pastors, Officers, and members of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of St. Rose, LA, Fifth African Baptist Church of St. Rose, LA, Beech Grove Baptist Church of Reserve, LA, King Solomon Baptist Church of Pinckneyville, MS, the Central Union Association, the Second District Association, and all neighboring churches are invited to the Funeral Service at 11:00am on Saturday April 20, 2024 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 100 2nd Street, St. Rose, LA 70087. Rev. Freddie Dixson, Sr., Pastor-Officiating. Visitation 9:00am until 10:45am at the above-named church.
